If you want to spend the money and want to save on weight, go with a featherlite aluminum skidsteer package. 18 foot with 2 5200 lb axles. Empty weight. 1600 lbs. compared to a all steel one at 2800 lbs.

Then again this will be pricey at around 6800 smackers for a 18 foot trailer. That is my next one.

Currently pull a 20 plus 5 goose 14,000 pounder. Way overkill.

Well the trailer selection makes the truck search seem easy. You fellas ought to just find one for me : )
2000 is my budget.

How does this one look?

Also what constitutes a piece of junk.

What are the characteristics of a good jack?

I think Jason King has a Rice trailer. You could talk to him. Too bad you can't find one with 5200 lb axles. Like the others said, bigger bearings, spindles brakes, usually tires also. Need brakes on both axles.

I think it might have brakes on both. If it doesn't Aaron said its easy to add. Maybe he will help me? As far as 10 k that's something I gonna save for my next trailer what will be a hillbilly Hilton pulling with my 1ton diesel I will have some day after the LS motor, atlasII, 60s, beadlocks, 40s and cage are installed.
I think it's about the best I'm gonna do on my budget.

I won't pull it that often. Hopefully once a month and maybe Moab someday.

5" main frame channel as opposed to 4", also full runner tongue. OC of x members, welding quality and metal thickness also. If you stand on a rear corner of the trailer and jump up and down does the trailer wave like a leaf in the wind?

A good jack should have enough capacity to lift at least 2/3 the trailer load, not just the tongue load. Personally I like a drop leg jack as well with a large foot plate.

Recessed, protected lighting; jacketed wiring, conduit run not just holes blown in x members. Dexter axles, treated flooring, (most of the painted ones are plain yellow pine).

That one in Washington seems like a decent trailer for the money, especially if it has both brake axles.

Here's your electric brake retrofit kit, pretty much bolt on and wire up:

A few of us have purchased Load-Trail from Midwest in St Charles, you might at least talk to them.

Both Wiredawg and myself got ours from Weil-Lombardo in O'Fallon Illinois. They carry a few different brands of trailers. Mine is a Corn-Pro. My only issue now is I should have bought a Buggy Hauler for the extra width on the deck.

If you want practice adding the 2nd axle, c'mon over. The parts have been in my garage for way too long already.

I know a few storage places, but probably not convenient for you. One is on Antire road between 44 and 30. The other is on old Gravois near 270. Both are about $25 or $30/month.
