the shorter the wheelbase, the shorter the turning radius, which binds the rear axle/suspension up quicker, resulting in more tire hopping, tire scuff, etc.

to show this scientifically, take two open diff vehicles, one long and one short wheelbase (Front wheel drive works great for this test) and make a complete circle. measure the number of rotations for the inside wheel and outside wheel, and find the difference between the two. you will find that a LWB vehicle has less of a difference than a SWB vehicle. on a spooled rig, there is no difference in the number of rotations, so the difference is made up in suspension bind and tire hopping/scuffing.

also, think of the wheelbase as a lever. short wheelbase vehicles have a shorter 'lever' when it comes to turning the rig, so tend to push more in low traction environments. since is requires less effort to turn a longer wheelbase spooled rig, they tend to push much less on wet/cold pavement.

im sure yours is 'great' and all, but terms like 'great' and 'fine' arent very accurate, especially in a comparitive sense. all i can say is that if you were to add 20 inches to your wheelbase, it would drive 'more great', and 'more predictable', at least as far as the spool is concerned.

comparing two rigs of the same weight, same tires, both spooled, the longer wheelbase rig will exhibit less undesirable traits resultant from being spooled than the short wheelbase will.

Makes sense. I still like 'great'.
