Here is the info for our fifth annual Alley Springs run set for Labor Day weekend Sept. 1-4, 2006. Like in the past we will be running the back roads near the Alley Springs/Jacks Fork/Current River/Mark Twain National Forest area. This is set up as an easy trail run, ideal for beginners, but is also a way to come out and enjoy the scenery with family and friends. Come out for the day or for the whole weekend.
The main run is scheduled for Sat. Sept. 2nd and one possible on Sun. Sept. 3rd. This year we have had a lot requests to do a float trip instead of trail riding on Sun. We would probably float on Sun. if there is enough demand, otherwise we will do more trailing on Sun. We will meet at the Alley Springs Mill parking lot at 10:00 am., departing by 10:30 am. Bring your lunch and non-alcoholic drinks for the trail, as we usually try to find a nice spot on the river to break for lunch. Here is a map to the meeting location:
We usually camp at the National Park Campground, but they are a little more restrictive to the party crowd, so we also use Jackís Fork Canoe Rentalís Campground. It is located right on the river and has lots of space to spread out. Camping is $7.00 per person, per night. Here is a link to their place:
My family will be camping again in the Alley Springs Campground. This is in the National Park. The rate for camping is $14 per night for up to 6 people ($16 per night for electric). This year they have many electric sites available for the first time. More information can be found here:
Reservations can be made here:
There are several hotels/cottages in town for those not wishing to camp.
Everyone must make their own arrangements for accommodations, and it is recommended that you make them as soon as possible, since most places fill up for the holiday weekend.
